Green fritillary butterfly sculpture

This sculpture of a green fritillary butterfly on a leaf is handcrafted from copper and then brush painted with enamel paints to create the detailed and colourful markings on its wings.   The butterfly is orange and black on top and green underneath. 

The sculpture is mounted on a wooden plinth so it can be displayed easily.

Butterflies have a magical presence, they are graceful and beautiful with vibrant colours and markings on delicate wings.   I have tried to capture some of these features in each of my butterfly sculptures.

The butterfly is 11cm (4 1/4 inches) wide and 9cm (3 1/2 inches) long.

The wooden plinth has a 16cm (6 1/4 inches) diameter.

The whole display is 17cm ( 6 3/4 inches) high.

The base and butterfly will be separated for posting but are easily reassembled in seconds by pushing the leaf stem back into the predrilled hole in the base.
